(“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our website, API, SDK, CLI, or related services (the “Services”). We are committed to ensuring your privacy and complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. The Data We Collect
We collect data necessary to provide our data extraction services, manage your account, and improve our platform.

3. How We Use Your Data
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
- Service delivery: To parse your documents, extract structured JSON, and return it to you.
- Account management: To manage your credits, billing, and API keys.
- Support: To respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance.
- Analytics: To understand how users interact with our platform and improve our software (only if you consent to analytics cookies).
A strict note on AI training: We do not use your uploaded Document Data or extracted JSON to train, fine-tune, or improve our AI models. Your proprietary data remains yours.
4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
To operate ClicheFactory reliably, we use trusted third-party service providers.
- Infrastructure: Our core application is hosted securely in Germany.
- LLM providers: If you utilize our hosted extraction endpoints, your documents may be processed by Google Gemini. We utilize enterprise API agreements that prohibit these providers from using your data to train their models.
- Analytics: We use PostHog (hosted in the EU at eu.i.posthog.com) and Google Analytics. These tools load only if you explicitly accept our cookie consent banner. We configure PostHog to mask sensitive inputs and document previews by default.
- BYOK & Local Mode: If you use “Bring Your Own Key” (BYOK) or our local Ollama integration, your Document Data is routed strictly according to your configuration. In Local Mode, your data never leaves your environment. In BYOK mode, your data is sent directly to your chosen provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) under your own agreement with them.
5. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active.
- Document Data: Uploaded documents and extracted JSON are stored only for the duration necessary to provide the extraction service and for you to retrieve the results. You may delete your data via the dashboard or API at any time.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies to keep you logged in and, with your consent, to gather usage analytics. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the consent banner on our website. If you decline cookies, we will not load PostHog or Google Analytics.
7. Your GDPR Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data.
- Data portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
